Nordstrom, Toronto Eaton Centre
Comprised of three stories, Govan Brown was tasked with renovating the Toronto Eaton Centre’s interior façade, as well as the exterior façade that faces Yonge Street.
Nordstrom’s façade integrates a number of finishes, including digitally printed metal panels. The first level is dedicated to cosmetics, accessories, fine jewelry, women’s shoes, five hybrid vendor shops, and Nordstrom’s own brand coffee shop, eBar, which spans 1,200sf. The cosmetics area to the east is made up of several centre aisles and custom, built-in backwall units, which are all shop-finished in high gloss paint. The escalator well created a centre stack extending over the three floors and is finished with glass balustrades and stainless-steel trimmings. Decorative 15ft and 18ft LED strips hang from the ceiling of the second and third floor escalator wells and breathe life to an unused space. The second level is finished with prefinished, engineered wood flooring.
The store contains a 1,000sf island bar called Habitant and another 4,500sf restaurant known as Bar Verde. The men’s personal stylist area, located on the second floor, is separated by a copper finished cascade coiling curtain. The third level is the largest of the three floors with 20,000sf of additional retail space.
