Simons CORE
The Simons CORE location in Calgary is the third Simons location built by Govan Brown and the first to be tackled in Alberta. This large 95,000 square foot location involves four levels in one building and two levels in an adjacent building connected to the Core Shopping Mall. It was a complex project as the space was occupied during construction and necessitated a phased schedule. Each wing houses feature staircases that are elegantly designed with stylish steel, corian and wood accents which were built and installed by a specialist trade. The space is also adorned by high-end millwork; areas of focus include cash desks, display units, and wall displays. Along with the aesthetic scope of work, we were also tasked with installing all mechanical and electrical installation including the space’s catering kitchen, café area, and multiple washroom facilities. All installations had to be tied into existing base-building installations. The flooring is a mix of carpet, resilient and laminate floor installations and stone tile. Our work inside was completed in conjunction with exterior work which included cladding the walls and raising and installing signage.
