Simons Londonderry Mall
Simons’ Londonderry Mall in Edmonton is Govan Brown’s fourth tenant improvement project for Maison Simons and the second in Alberta. The store features a 50ft-long installation suspended from the second floor ceiling, and Simons brands Maison Home, Twik, and Icone. Unique to the store is a shoe department and a 10,000sf warehouse area that is used as a mini distribution centre in the west.
Another unique element for this particular location is it introduced green initiatives to the scope of work. The project consisted of two sustainable components:
- A rooftop array of roughly 350 kW capacity on ballasted racks.
- A parking array of roughly 250 kW capacity comprised of bifacial (see-through) modules on two Y-shaped structural steel canopies covering a total of 80 parking stalls (40 per canopy). The PV system is grid-connected, supplying excess electricity back to the utility provider when generation is at its peak in the summer.
The project also included 3 electric vehicle charging stations.
