Govan Brown was contracted by Larco to conduct pre-construction services for the latest projects occurring in Hotel Vancouver. This phase of work included providing preliminary budgets and schedules for two projects –“Hotel Vancouver Discovery Level Conference Centre TI” and “Hotel Vancouver Level 16-19 Corporate Office TI and Mechanical Upgrade.” The overall intention of these projects was to provide extensive tenant improvement services for the Hotel, which was a heritage site, without compromising the integrity of the building or disturbing its tenants. The scope included renovations to washrooms, meeting and multifunctional spaces. A new structural steel staircase was installed which required the removal of existing suspended slab and concrete wall. Another portion of work was dedicated to extending existing elevator shaft to multiple new floors and installing a new elevator for said shaft. We were also retained to relocate the mechanical service floor and demolishing the existing mechanical systems and converting that floor to office space. This project occurred while the hotel remained occupied necessitating extensive client and hotel collaboration with our construction team.
