Swissport Lounge
The interior fit-up for Swissport at the Ottawa Airport (YOW) is setting the standard for modern third-party airport lounges. A beautifully designed space where travelers can either conduct meetings in the new business centre—complete with electrified film for privacy—enjoy a food and beverage, or simply relax in the quiet zone, this lounge has something for everyone. With a Canadian theme in mind, the team made an effort to use locally sourced wood, including reclaimed beams from the region to provide a high-level of finish for people to enjoy. High-end finishes, a kitchen, and a servery with integrated AV and FID display, allow for the public to meet or relax before heading to their next destination.
During this project, the Govan Brown team became very familiar with the design and construction approval process when engaged by Airport Authorities. The team is proficient in the multi-level stakeholder review process such as ensuring that YOW’s own team and mechanical and electrical engineers were provided design drawings to conduct overall signoffs, as well as bringing on board a third-party code consultant. With Govan Brown providing construction management services, team was able to help the client and Consultant troubleshoot potential issues before they happened. Providing this level of service to the client avoided unforeseen costs and schedule impacts.
