In an effort to follow the private sector’s new trends for reinventing the modern workplace, the Government of Canada has also been re-envisioning how their own employees work. Across its many departments, this shift towards workplace modernization, dubbed GCworkplace, is being embarked upon in the hopes that such improvements to the workplace environment will foster greater innovation, collaboration, and productivity among employees.
The Toronto Federal Judicial Centre project was an aggressively ambitious endeavour. Along with a stringent schedule and firm budget, sophisticated design elements were considered in order to maintain LEED certification during a time when the program was still fairly new to Canada.
This interior fit-up project entailed the transformation of two complete floors in a heritage building for the Senate of Canada. The floors house the Senators with long-term and temporary office space during the construction of the West Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario.
