Aburi Minami
Located in Toronto’s entertainment district, Minami is the latest eatery by famed Aburi Restaurant Canada. Globally renowned for its modern approach to Japanese cuisine, Govan Brown partnered with the team a third time to deliver their newest 2-level restaurant. The contemporary space was constructed with experiential dining in mind, outfitted with a number of unique finishes in order to create distinctive dining and social experiences within the open floorplate.
The main level features a restaurant grade kitchen, dining room and bar area with a barrier free washroom. The mezzanine level is comprised of washrooms, office space, a storage area as well as an electrical/ mechanical room. Govan Brown’s team were challenged with coordinating the service as well as execution of the high-level finishes all within the modestly sized space. Through a strategic logistics plan and detailed coordination with the various subcontractors, Govan Brown was able to stagger the scopes of work and maximize efficiencies on site. The intended design vision was translated to reality through a highly collaborative approach with the global stakeholder team and consultants, streamlined through Govan Brown’s thorough constructability reports and regular communications.
