AHS High River Cancer Centre

In 2016, Govan Brown was retained once again by Alberta Health Services to complete a complex project in one of their health facilities. This specific project, occurring in High River Hospital, is focused on the selective demolition and renovation of space in the facility’s Cancer Centre. Comprised of roughly 8,000 square feet our scope includes gutting former outpatient rooms and replacing those and the surrounding space with 6 treatment areas and a myriad of exam rooms, consultation rooms and washrooms; this scope includes completely new mechanical and electrical systems as needed throughout. The project is a highly sensitive operation as we are performing the majority of the work in the heart of the hospital, and as such there is a premium placed on hoarding, dust and noise mitigation, and infection protection and control. With that in mind, our team has drawn on our experience with other similar healthcare projects to avoid affecting the hospital and its patients in a negative way. This includes erecting fire-rated poly sheeting (IPC Level 4 Hard Hoarding) and using negative air pressure units while applying hoarding.
